This instructional design project was created for a local healthcare provider to enhance the skills and knowledge of experienced nurse preceptors. When creating this learning module, I prioritized real-world scenarios relevant to the provider's specific and specialized healthcare environment, ensuring that preceptors could apply their expertise to practical situations.
To create these situations, I conducted a rapid needs analysis with the provider to determine what training preceptors desired, what leadership believed was needed, and what I identified as gaps in knowledge and performance. With this knowledge, I collaborated with the subject matter experts at the provider to create broad scenarios that may occur on the hospital floor. Then, working with the help of artificial intelligence, I crafted specific scenarios that allowed preceptors to reflect upon their practice.
As part of my master's degree studies in instructional design, I created this project focused on teaching learners how to create both healthy and delicious pizzas and focaccia. This project aimed to blend educational principles with practical culinary experiences. The module covered key aspects such as nutrition, ingredient selection, dough preparation, and baking techniques. To engage learners effectively, I incorporated multimedia elements like instructional videos, interactive recipe guides, and virtual cooking demonstrations. The design encouraged students to explore various flavor combinations and nutritional considerations while honing their pizza and focaccia-making skills. Regular check-ins and assessments were integrated to measure both theoretical understanding and practical application, ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable learning experience for students pursuing culinary mastery.
Creating math lessons that are accessible and enjoyable has been a driving force in my professional journey, and these skills naturally extend into my work in instructional design. I've fine-tuned my approach by ensuring that the educational materials I develop are inclusive, considering diverse learning needs and backgrounds. I make it a point to bring complex concepts to an approachable level, ensuring accessibility for everyone. Injecting an element of enjoyment into the learning experience has been a central focus, allowing me to design engaging lessons that not only educate but also cultivate a positive attitude towards the subject. These competencies seamlessly transfer into instructional design, where I leverage inclusive practices, diverse multimedia, and interactive methods to create courses that resonate with a broad audience. By prioritizing equity and accessibility in my instruction, I work to contribute to the development of learning experiences that are not only effective but also welcoming and enjoyable for learners with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
